ABBA HAS A ROCKING CHAIR

BELOVED OF GOD.. BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF CHRIST..

ABBA HAS A ROCKING CHAIR
Let me preempt this word God gave me with a statement first that in my heart I know our love for the Lord Jesus will draw us to just come on His lap, and enjoy Him for all He was and is, to praise Him and worship Him and to just spend quality time with our creator.  Just to “be” in His presence is the sweetest thing in the world… but, there are times when we need Daddy God’s arms around us in His big cozy and reassuring rocking chair…

Just a thought I had early this morning while praying.  My friends, for those of you who know me well, the most amazing part of it was that I was UP this early!  Anyway, thought I'd pass this on to you..

I don't know what I was praying when this came to me… but here goes…

The Lord asked me  ...when a little child is "shaken" emotionally, what does the child do?"

My answer was. ... "the child goes to the parent for comfort, security and wisdom.

I felt God was saying to me ... "
When the enemy is trying to shake us to the core, when he is trying to cause us to question and doubt, whwn he is causing us to be weak in battle, when he is causing us to question decisions, when he is causing us to wonder if we will ever see our promised land, when he is causing us to think that the battle is too hard and long, it many times puts all kinds feelings of hoplessness and dispair upon us.  Satan wants us to give up and give in...

So, when we need answers, when we need strength for the battle... when we need to catch our breath, a place to hide from the fears, anxiety and stress and fretting from all of the circumstances in life, when we are tired and weary… He wants us to come to Him for a time of loving comfort, a place where there is calm in the midst of the storms of life.

He is our COMFORT, He is our peace and place of rest in times of difficulty and trouble. In whatever we are facing, He wants us to be comforted.  He delivers us from ALL our enemies.  A great amount of the psalms talk about how God will fight for us and deliver us from all our enemies.  The enemy is all around, and there are giants in the land (specifically OUR land.. the land of our hearts).  We need to be tucked in His fortress of love to withstand the enemy’s tactics...

*Psalm 32:7-8  ... surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.  I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

When we are on Daddy God's lap allowing Him to give us peace and direction, He will literally guide us with His eye.  We will know what to do when we are close enough to Him to see Him face to face and look into His eyes of total wisdom.   "My own children can attest to the fact that there have been times when I as a mother have guided my children with my eye... but I don't think that is the way God is talking about it! Hahaha!  I believe His LOVING eyes guide us.

He says in Psalms 3:  for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

I'll share a secret with you, the night God was delivering me from cigarette smoking many years ago, He held me SO close to Him. I had seen God as my friend, Father, Savior, love of my life, one that sticks closer than a brother... (by the way, I never had a brother so that was SO much fun to finally have a big brother in Christ!).. but, until that night I had never seen God hold me in His arms and fight for me! It was supernatural, and the above scripture is the one He gave me to hold on to.  Whenever the temptation for a cigarette would come, I would see myself on Abba Father's lap and His mighty arm of strength was knocking out the teeth of the wicked on my behalf.  It was WAY awesome!

"Ye, though a thousand may fall at my right hand, ye ten thousand at my left.. it will not come nigh me"…

We can eat, drink or come into contact with any deadly thing (human or inhuman!) and it cannot hurt us.. we are HIS....It doesn't matter how old we are, we are still HIS CHILDREN and always will be.  I think so many times we get this "I'm too grown up to need Abba God (Daddy God), or we get embarrassed to come and abide a while on His lap, but, the fact remains that  King David, the one God called the "Apple of His eye" was the one who came to Him in everything.  That was one of the reasons God loved David so… Abba God is the only true SECURITY.  The world has been looking for security in many things… power, relationships, money, fame, family, etc... but, HE alone is our high tower, our deliverer, our Rock, the wings that prevent us from falling, our pavilion. Nothing else will ever satisfy completely.

I was thinking about a little bird learning to fly… the baby bird is comfortable in it’s place of safety and is afraid to take the steps necessary to get out on the edge and flap his/her little wings and take off in flight, so the mother bird will unsettle the nest and remove some of the nesting material to make it so uncomfortable for the baby to go back in the nest and the bird will then make the decision to leave the nest and fly.  I was thinking about so many people today who have put their trust in the comfort of their “Nest” of savings and have put their trust in that “nestegg” so to speak.  God wants us to fly, but He also wants our nest to be in HIM as our security and not money or things, and He wants us to grow up and FLY... not remain as baby birds forever.

He is WISDOM. He will guide and direct us and keep our feet from stumbling. He will show us what our part is in the coming days.  He is the Light unto our path.  He will wash away and remove anything that is preventing us from fulfilling our destiny in this hour, but it starts in His presence, close to Him, where we can hear His heartbeat ... where we can begin to get in sync with His heartbeat.

Bad things happen, there is an enemy out there, I was reminded about that old cartoon.. "we've seen the enemy, and He is US!"

So the first thing I try to examine in the midst of trouble is my own heart when I am on Daddy God's lap.  "Lord create a clean heart in ME, remove my transgressions and renew a RIGHT spirit within me".  How God loves it when we come to Him with all the "good, bad and ugly".  We need to only come as little children, admitting our shortcomings, sins, failures, and troubles.  Only then can He come to our aid, and He will fill us with all we need in this hour.  He will fill us with hope, a bigger picture of the purposes of God, new plans and vision so we won't perish, strategy to defeat our enemies.  He will build us up where the enemy and world has pressed us down.  He will remove the chains that have held us bound.

He is making for Himself a people, and we are very much part of His plan.  I just love that.

HE IS MAKING FOR HIMSELF A PEOPLE… wow!

There is our part and God's part.  Sometimes we think all that we encounter is for our purposes, we go to Him with all our lists, but He wants us to come with our hearts.. because in reality, God sees the bigger picture. When we ask God to be glorified in all that we do, the bigger picture begins to immerge.  This relationship thing is a HEART thing.  Where do you think you can hear someone's heartbeat the best?  When your head is on their chest.  That's where He wants us to be, so intimate that we lay our head on His chest.

We have a loving Father who's rocking chair and lap is big enough for all of us.  There is always enough room. He wants us to COME TO HIM.  He alone holds the answers to our questions.  He is our peace, and if we try to do it in our own strength, we will fail.  We NEED our Heavenly Father.

I'll be looking for you on Papa God's lap.. xoxo

From my heart to yours,

Pastor Donna Trexler/Geertz
